Resident Specialist Classes

Are you interested in caring for the elderly and obtaining your Certified Nursing Assistant registry? Here is your exciting opportunity for you to directly impact the quality of life for our residents! A resident specialist is the front-line caregiver providing services with respect and dignity. As part of a 75-hour state required training, you will learn how to care for a resident’s total needs including spiritual, social, recreational and nursing needs.
The course is offered every 2 months and currently only offered during the evening, 3pm – 9pm. These classes are not compensated for, however, are free of cost along with the test. Each student will be required to fulfill a 6 month contract with Country Manor after completion of the course and test.

- At least 16 years of age
- Able to attend each class, no exceptions
- Able to work with peers, supervisors and residents in a cooperative, considerate and helpful manner
- Able to effectively communicate with residents, families and personnel
- Able to handle physical and/or verbal abuse from residents in an appropriate professional manner
- Willing to learn caregiver techniques and problem-solving skills
- Responsible
- Able to be part of a team
- People oriented
- Able to adapt in a fast paced environment
- Able to develop working relationships with residents and coworkers
- Able to fulfill a 6 month working contract with Country Manor Campus

- If you are interested in the course and meet all the qualifications, you can either complete an application online or you can come to our Front Desk at East Door 1 (Human Resources) and complete an application there (must be completed before the deadline, no exceptions).
- After the deadline we review all of the applications and will call selected applicants for interviews. Each applicant will hear from us either by letter or phone 2 – 3 weeks after the deadline date.
- If you are accepted into the course, you will begin your 6 week training course on the given date. Once you pass the test, which is provided to you and is free of cost, you will start your 6 month contract working as a Resident Specialist for Country Manor Campus.
REMEMBER: These classes are offered once every two months at no charge and are held on campus. We can only accept 10 students per class. If you do not get into the class you applied for, please feel free to apply again for the next class.
