Activities assistants will assist Therapeutic Recreation staff in the implementation of scheduled activities from our daily calendar. Assisting with activities can involve a variety of tasks for the volunteer including transporting residents from their rooms to the scheduled activity, assisting with activity set up, getting needed supplies for the TR staff, helping staff to implement the activity, assisting with clean up, and transporting residents after the activity is over. 

Beauty shop escorts assist our beauty shop staff in escorting residents from their rooms to their beauty shop appointments and return them to their rooms or other areas of the Care Center when they are finished. There is a good amount of walking that takes place with this opportunity so it would be a great position for someone who is looking to get some exercise while volunteering!

This volunteer position's purpose is to provide social and mental stimulation for a resident or small group of residents through game playing. Volunteer's primary responsibility is to initiate cards, cribbage, or board games with an assigned resident or group of residents. Therapeutic Recreation staff will assist with introductions and set up until comfortable. Volunteers may play games with residents in their rooms or in neighborhood dayrooms and other public areas.

Assist residents in our Care Center to our chapel for weekly masses or other spiritual gatherings (bible study, rosary, etc). You may choose to attend the services or you may do visiting with other residents while the service is taking place and return to escort residents back to their rooms once the service is over. Volunteers may get more involved with masses if they so choose by becoming Eucharistic ministers, readers, or ushers for our church services. Appropriate training would be provided.

The Cobblestone Corner Eatery serves our customers everything from soda, coffee or soup, to premade salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Volunteers are responsible to staff the Eatery and be available to get customers their food or beverages. Volunteers are also responsible for basic cash register operation, pouring hot beverages, making coffee as needed, and some gentle cleaning (i.e. wiping down counters, tables, etc.). Volunteers in the Cobblestone Corner Eatery need to be able to commit to one shift per week for a 3-4 hour period of time, call the Volunteer Coordinator for shift availability.

Develop a special friendship with a resident or multiple residents in our Care Center. Visit with them on a regular basis, preferably once a week. Establish a friendship with residents and let them know you're interested in participation in activities, take them outside, to see the bird aviary, or duck pond. The possibilities are endless! Take some time to listen to a piece of their history and life experiences.

Assist in maintaining campus flower beds and gardens throughout the summer season! Enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise while you volunteer! Help is needed weeding, watering, tilling, etc.

Volunteer menders and sewers are responsible for repairing resident clothing, sewing seams, sewing on buttons, repairing hems, and darning socks. New resident clothing often needs name tags sewn into them as well. There are often special projects for our menders to work on including wheelchair, catheter, and walker bags. All materials that are needed will be provided.

Share your talents with our residents! We have a variety of opportunities for volunteers to play music for our residents including during mealtimes, parties, happy hours, special events, and on Sunday afternoons. You could also choose to play individually in resident's rooms. We have several pianos for your use as well as microphones and opportunities to connect to a sound system if need be. All other instruments and equipment must be brought by volunteers.

Assist our staff in taking small groups of residents out into the community for various activities. Volunteer's primary responsibility while on the outings is to pair up with a resident and help push their wheelchair. A Therapeutic Recreation staff member will always be along on the outings to assist you. Residents and staff are transported using Country Manor vans. Volunteers can choose to ride along in the van if there is room or they may choose to meet the staff and residents at the outing location.

A lot of our residents on campus are pet lovers! Pet therapy volunteers visit our residents with the accompaniment of our Resident Pet Therapy Pug, Sophie! It is a great way for animal lovers to get involved and to make a big difference in the quality of life for our residents.

Assist our Therapy staff in escorting residents from their rooms to Champion Rehab for their therapy sessions. If so inclined, volunteers may visit with the resident while they are waiting for their therapy session to start. They may also assist the therapists during therapy sessions by getting necessary equipment, cleaning equipment, etc. Once their therapy session is over, volunteers escort residents back to their rooms or to other areas of the Care Center. There is a good amount of walking that takes place with the opportunity so it would be a great position for someone who is looking to get some exercise while volunteering!
